The Truth Behind Diversity

“Diversity may be the hardest thing for a society to live with and perhaps the most dangerous thing for a society to be without”. Whether it’s in the work place, educational institutions, professional sports, or political debate, we can see the effects of diversity and how it cultivates the community, society, and the world.
We are each magnificently diverse in several different areas such as ethnicity, gender, age, nationality, language, standard of living, educational background, behavior, faith, values, skills, and dreams. We need to appreciate, respect, and value the differences we all have. We are not always going to agree on situations, but we should support and encourage the talents of each person. By doing this we are creating an environment where no one is left out and we are allowing others to grow personally. By broadening our students cultural understanding we as educators will produce well rounded citizens who understand diversity and the need for diversity.

  1. Paliden, I love your blog! Very good choice. Diversity is an area that pulls people out of their comfort zone and forces them to think, especially if they are wise. Great Job!
